After repeated viewings of David Fincher’s product-placement-rich adaptation of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” I realized one placement in particular was really drawing my eye. Set partially in Stockholm, Sweden, the characters in the film drink Wayne’s Coffee repeatedly. I love logos, coffee, and Fincher films. This post was a must.

It’s funny how a relatively small detail like this can capture my attention. Granted, the big bold and blue logotype for Wayne’s Coffee–a slightly customized version of Akzidenz-Grotesk Super Bold – is hard to ignore. But then I just can’t ignore a good sans serif, especially a typographic titan like Akzidenz-Grotesk.
Movies set in the U.S. feature Starbucks ubiquitously, so I thought it was a clever switch-up on Fincher’s part to do the same with a Swedish brand. Read more about the product placement in GWTDT.
